When and why did you start your business?

I officially started my business in 2009 after tormenting my son for over five years with the endless camera in his face.  He is my little muse and I have him to thank for making photography not just a hobby but my passion.  After he was born the time was flying by so I used my camera to document those everyday moments and am now very thankful to have all those photographs that captured him during those precious years.   After being asked by close friends to take pictures of their family, I found I not only loved to photograph my little guy but others as well.   It allowed my creativity to grow and I was hooked!  Giving families the gift of photography has brought more joy to my life than I could have ever imagined.  Best.job.ever.

How are you different from the rest?

I work with newborns, babies, children, high school seniors, and families.   I truly treat my clients like family and provide the best customer service I possibly can. For that reason, I am a low volume photographer.  Meaning I only take a handful of sessions each month so I can provide that one on one contact with my clients and be there to immediately  help them out and respond to their needs.  I love, love, love taking pictures but I love building relationships with my clients just as much. I feel I haven’t done my job until they are completely satisfied and have exactly what they need from their photo session.

How did you learn your craft?

I am self- taught and extremely proud of that fact!  I have read more books and guides than I can count and have practiced, practiced, practiced.   Every week I still learn something new and that keeps my photography fresh and modern.  Just with every other profession, things change and you have to be in the know to evolve as a professional photographer.

Describe your style/approach.

I am a very laid back photographer and like to let moments happen while I’m shooting families. My clients favorite images are those that make them say “Oh you completely captured our little girl’s personality” or “That is SO him!”  For this reason I really like to customize each session for my clients and spend quite a bit of time before we even start shooting to get to know them through my questionnaire and phone calls.   A client can never have too much contact with me before a session!  My job is to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera and trust me to capture them just as they are.

Any awards or features/publications?

Last year I was voted Best Denver Family Photographer by Nickelodeon! And I have been feature on the photography website Inspire Me Baby.

Where did you grow up and how did you end up in Colorado?

I grew up in Sunny California (although it’s much sunnier here in Colorado!) and moved to Colorado several years ago for my husband’s job.  We had planned on only staying a few years but fell in love with this state and never want to leave!

When you are not working, what do you like to do for fun?

I love hanging out with my family!  I have a very active 6 year old boy so we enjoy going to Rockies games, hiking, parks and the pool.  When we are shut indoors we head down to our basement where we will compete in ping pong and air hockey games.  There is never a dull moment in our house!
