REAL COLORADO WEDDING {denver} part I

Fun, quirky, modern and whimsical. This wedding is filled with personality!  One of the most original weddings that I have featured so far.

Erin and Eric were inspired by science and more specially They Might be Giants’ album cover Here Comes Science.

Their invitations included dinosaurs, rocket ships, and scientific names.  The final touch to the invitations was the lovequation. Among their friends they are known as e² (erin & erin) so they played around the ‘formula’ and came up with e + e = love² (technically the math is wrong but who’s going to argue…)

The ceremony was held on the rooftop overlooking city park, the denver skyline and the mountains behind. For the decorations, the bride folded 1,321 origami butterflies using turquoise and yellow paper, as well as paper from eric’s physics magazines. These were hung from two manzanita trees at the aisle entrance and from a beautiful birch arch to create our ‘altar’. During the ceremony, to decide who said their vows first, the bride and groom did rock-paper-scissors.

There were fun quirky surprises everywhere. The programs included a fun crossword puzzle. The escort cards were folded paper airplanes. The table numbers were even personalized and gave insight to the bride and groom’s lives. Some of the bride’s favorites include 4.8(sec) = amount of time it takes eric to destroy erin at foosball, 97 = number of ski runs at mary jane, 13.35(met) = height of giant buddha in kamakura japan, and 3.264(lbs) = weight of a full beer stein at oktoberfest in breckenridge. Also each table had a cootie catchers with fun tidbits about the wedding and the museum, and wild flower seeded paper that explained to guests that a donation had been made to the nature conservancy in their honor.

If the decor wasn’t entertaining enough, the guests could wander through the space exhibit during cocktail hour, play in the fabulous ‘fun booth’ our photographer set up or even touch a dinosaur which marvelously strolled around the room controlled by mr. bones, the wonderful paleo-puppeteer!

Congratulations Erin and Eric!  And thank you for sharing your wedding and inspiring others to think outside the box when planning their wedding.
