Rustic Chic in Vail

a RUSTIC CHIC wedding in vail, colorado

Notes from the Bride: When planning the wedding, Jonathan and I have the same taste, so that was in the bag. I love the vintage and rustic feel so that is what we went with. My creative mother and I put ourselves to the test and almost did all DIY decorations. To the paper flower centerpieces to the arch we stood under when taking our vows, we made ourselves. It made everything so much more special and personal. The most difficult thing about the wedding theme was picking the colors… so I didn’t! I couldn’t just pick two colors and an accent, there were just too many palettes I simply picked an all natural color palette… if you could find the color in the mountains, it was probably in our wedding colors! We did splashes of coral which really brought everything together. I told Jonathan to pick any color out of the bridesmaids dresses for his tie color… and he picked the lime green (which made me nervous). Lime green and a natural palette? I was a little worried, but I couldn’t take back what I said! I think it turned out perfect though.

It was a beautiful day. I couldn’t ask for more. We had a gorgeous back drop of Gore Range that framed our ceremony, beautiful clouds and no rain! We picked a vitamin string quartet song to walk down the aisle to (guardian angel by red jumpsuit apparatus) and then our favorite praise songs throughout the ceremony. Cori Cook, my friend and florist, arranged the most beautiful flowers for the ceremony. I walked down a rose petalisle with organic arrangements in mason jars hanging on shepherds hooks and beautiful cascading arrangements applied to the aspen tree arch. It made for a beautiful setting. Our photographers, Michele and Mark of IN Photography, captured every moment dear to us. They are an amazing duo and incredibly awesome to work with! Our reception was inside of Larkspur Restaurant (they are an exceptional team) at the base of Golden Peak in Vail. They did an amazing job. The restaurant also made our cake. We went for a more organic looking cake with exposed layers of zucchini cake. We really tried to make everything look very homie and comfy. I wanted everything to look like Anthropologie! All the stationary was done by me! I am a graphic designer so I had so many ideas running through my head for these details. We went with a bark embossed paper and a whimsical font for the stationary. Everything was very Rustic Chic (my new term). It was everything we imagined and more.

At the end of the day, I was married to my bestest friend in the whole wide world and surrounded by LOVE. And that in itself made everything even more beautiful. That is all that really counts.
