I am pleased to introduce you to a dynamic duo, Christie and Nicole, of Hey! Party Collective. They offer brides and grooms a fresh and modern perspective on wedding planning, coordination, design, crafting, and installations.
Who is Hey! Party Collective? Tell us about your team.
Hey! Party Collective is the brainchild of Christie zumBrunnen and Nicole Lowery, a party planning dynamic duo, intent on pushing the envelope, but keeping it sophisticated. We are out here trying to show brides they don’t have to have a ho-hum wedding. We are also notorious dance party starters, so that’s just a bonus! Who doesn’t love a good dance party?!?
Our goal is to inspire clients with fresh ideas, to be themselves, to push the envelope, to think outside the box. Our clients are those who are looking for something different, bold, hip, and edgy, and aren’t finding it in your typical event planning operation. Because of this, we try to work with venues with a unique atmosphere, promote and collaborate with like-minded industry badasses, and find styles that cater to the particular tastes of our clients.
When and why did you start your business?
Christie and I were both were always finding a reason to throw a party or host dinners or help friends out with their events. We just loved to do it. And we always had big dreams for decorations and details – fine for professional party planning, not so much for a no-budget little house party. So many friends encouraged me to pursue this, so I quite literally quit my day job, and thankfully Christie was interested in giving this thing a shot with me! We both had the same vision for Hey! Party, and we are a great combination of creativity and organization. Christie and I both felt that Denver was in need of a little kick in the pants when it came to creative event design, with the use of unique venues, bold decor, and disregarding the conventional trends – especially in weddings.
What or who inspires you?
Our clients, and other like-minded industry pros. But more specifically, we are inspired by bold and unexpected color palettes, unique objects, the urban landscape of Denver, adventurous couples, little details with big impact, street food, and killer cocktails!
Any awards or features/publications?
We have been featured on Ruffled, Rock n’ Roll Bride, Ultimate Bridesmaid, Westword, and Apartment
Therapy, have collaborated with the Denver Art Museum collective, and have been quoted in both Denver Life Magazine and the Denver Post. We are also featured wedding artists on Green Wedding Shoes and Offbeat Bride!
Favorite Wedding Trend.
Food trucks. And signature cocktails. And creative decor.
Ultimately, we encourage brides and grooms to plan a wedding that feels right to them. There will always be “wedding trends,” but we are seeing more couples plan their day around what they find important and decor that fits their personalities, instead of going blindly with tradition or using Pinterest to the extreme.
I love your tag line, we throw glitter in the face of stuffy tradition, tell us about how you came up with that.
It just became our way of quickly explaining our philosophy – we are a little unconventional, we’re fun (at least we think so), and we’re not afraid to be different. Oh, and we like glitter. We think this sums us up pretty nicely, and hints at what our clients can expect from Hey! Party.
