Notes from the photographer, Ashlee Crowden: This shoot was many months in the making. So much went into making it perfect. The "bride" is one of my dearest friends, Sara. Her hair and make up was done at a local beauty school for $18. The couple was just engaged, but we played wedding for a day. I found her dress for $5 at a flea market, so that was a total score. The groom's clothes (Jacob), was something he already had in his closet. Keeping costs down was important for us! The horse (Drifter) was a "prop" I have been DYING to use in one of my sessions. This was my first time working with a live animal. He was BEAUTIFUL and even was a champ about wearing his flowers around his mane! I got most of my props at thrift stores (including the entire table scape and tufted chair). I'm a DIY gal, so I painted the chair white and gold for the session for around $20 total. (check out the before and after here) The cake came from a cheap local grocery store, but the beautiful flower topper took it to the next level. The calligraphy was done by myself as well. This session lasted for about 5 hours, so we could get the beautiful golden hour and into the Colorado sunset. I had the marquee "love" sign custom made by one of my past brides who makes them for craft shows! We brought out a generator and covered the cord with grass to get this amazing shot. I also brought wedding sparklers to wrap up the night. This shoot was hot, long, but worth every second. A huge shout out to my florist who donated all the flowers (Petals of Aloha)
