Couture Colorado

Notes from the photographer, Ashleigh of Red Aspen Photography: Colorado is known for its amazing mountain views of the Rockies and vast vistas. We love that about living here, but we wanted to add a twist to the wedding scene. Our styled wedding collaboration was set at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art; a unique, urban, and modern look into the Colorado wedding scene. Boulder is a young, active and hip community with many talented artists and organizers. A primary goal of this collaboration was to include as many of those local creatives in the area as we could to highlight Boulder as a versatile and rich wedding destination. For example, the venue, BMoCA, sits at the center of town on the bike path and on the street where the weekly farmers market occurs; our models are a real local couple; we featured a handmade fir beam dining table that was sourced and crafted here; the table setting details include a collection of handmade vases by a local ceramist; as well as the jewelry, florals, beauty, dish ware, paper, and desserts being created, gathered, and presented by local vendors; with a Boulder-based planner to pull it all together and a Boulder-based photographer to capture it. After all, we value the support of a community it takes to have a beautiful, seamless, meaningful wedding day. We were inspired by the contrast between dark and light for the floral palette, using the dark centered white anemone, deep plum parrot tulips, coleus foliage, white neurine lilies, with pops of fresh green for a lively touch. The graphic nature of the dark jewel orchid foliage and checkered lily, frittilaria maleagris, combined with the elegant and simple white clematis play off of the dark markings in the ceramic vases. We couldnt resist the ruffled ranunculus with colored edges that look almost painted for this art museum table setting. We love tablescapes with layers of visual interest, so weve added the desert rose selenite with its wonderful bulbous shape, along with air plants and petite succulents set on reflective trays. The air plants and succulents can double as guest favors as a lasting reminder of the magic of the evening. With personal and intimate moments amongst the artwork installation, a sophisticated love is evoked. Integrated into the day was an outfit change coordinating with its own jewelry set; any proper wedding day must have a unique get-away look for the bride! For the ceremony and reception, the brides gown was paired with delicate matte gold and black diamonds. For her getaway she wore a jumpsuit with platinum and diamond cuffs; most appropriate for honeymooning adventures!
