Whether you choose to go for a classic theme, a fairy tale slant or a vintage vibe, a destination wedding can give you all of these things and more. From a wedding breakfast of unusual foods to an incredible backdrop for your first dance, there is lots to be said for marrying abroad. And Colorado is the ultimate mountain wedding destination. However, before you make the decision and take the leap, ask yourself the following three questions. If you can give confident and positive answers for each, its time to start packing!

Can all of my loved ones afford to come? You might have been saving for your dream wedding your whole life. Of course, your wedding should be 100% what you want it to be. But it is important to consider whether everyone you want there can come. This shouldnt just go for if they can afford it in the short-term. Also ask yourself if the cost implications will be damaging and stressful for them in the long run. If you are adamant about the idea of marrying outside of your country, thats fine. Just consider adding an extra year to the planning to give friends and family more time to save. You could also tell them not to give you any gifts, because their presence while you celebrate your special day is a gift enough. Where will the weather be reliable? One of the big draws of having a destination wedding is the concept of finding the sunshine and being able to trust it will stick around! The Caribbean and parts of Southeast Asia are great for this. However, youll need to do research into the best times to go. Although these places have sun, they may also have things like monsoon season or hurricane season. So, if youre getting married in Jamaica, and you want sunshine, youll need to go for July, August or December. This is when the best weather is. However, even a single month can make a big difference. Just one month before July, in June, its hurricane season. What kind of dress will be suitable? If you want a destination wedding, your wedding dress style will need to be matched accordingly. Youll be freezing cold all day if you get married in the snow in a backless babydoll dress. Or youll be steaming hot if you wear a princess ball gown in the Caribbean sun! With all of that in mind, dont commit to any dress before you book your venue and finalize your date. Only then can you make well-informed decisions. This also prevents you from picking something you adore and then finding out later that you cant make it work. Also, consider your shoes. If youll be getting married on a beach, you may want to skip the heels altogether and go with sandals. You could even go barefoot. Similarly, if youll be in woodlands or forests, you might want to go for something with a covered toe. You could even consider wearing some cool Hunter wellington boots if there is a chance of snow or rain!
