Colorado is an amazing place to live. Last week, I took a couple of hours off of work for an afternoon hike to talk "shop" with Denver photographer and Super 8 extraordinaire Kevin Von Qualen. I love that just a few minutes from the city you can get enjoy gorgeous Colorado scenery and solitude. We chose to hike Green Mountain. It is close to the city, easy to get to and let's be honest it is not that hard of hike which allowed us to chit chat the whole way. All of you have driven by this mountain when coming to and from the mountains on I-70. Green Mountain has a large network of trails. Great for a leisure hike, trail running and biking. Three trailheads allow you access Green Mountain in Lakewood, CO. All of them are found on west Alameda Ave. on the southern side of the mountain. Directions to Trailhead: From I-25, take 6th Ave. west. Drive approximately 6 miles to Kipling. Take Kipling south for 2 miles before taking a right on Alameda. Stay on Alameda for 3 miles until you see a parking area on the right. This trail is part of William Frederick Hayden Park. You will see great views of the city, mountains, and Red Rocks. Since this trail is located just 10 minutes from Denver, it tends to get crowded on the weekends.
