Amber, the bride, grew up on her family farm in Fort Collins, Colorado, and it was the perfect place for their wedding. Before the wedding, Amber and her mom grew the wedding flowers together, making the location even more meaningful! Amber also created her own wedding bouquet by supplementing her flowers with flowers from Blush Flowers!
Q & A with the Bride and Groom:
Let's start at the beginning. How did you meet?
Our dear friends Erin and Seth Kelly introduced us. Amber used to work with Erin and Seth and John ran together at Luther College.
What makes your relationship special?
Tell me some things that you both value in your time together. (Ex: pushing each other to new limits, love to travel, huge comic book fans, foodies, etc.) What makes your relationship unique?
We enjoy spending time at home with our beloved rescue dog, Elwood. We like cooking, spending time with friends and family, watching shows, going for family walks. We also enjoy travel (though we haven't done much lately).
Give me all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
Amber's family often takes a summer to trip to the thumb of Michigan at their family house on Lake Huron. Although last year's trip coincided with the her grandma's memorial service it has always held great meaning to Dennis & Bailey and the whole family. John felt it a perfect time and place to ask Amber, seeing as he had heard the story of Dennis and Bailey's impromptu first wedding there many years before. On a walk through the woods while mushroom hunting, to Amber's surprise, John proposed. She said yes, of course.
What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding planning?
Amber: I'm growing our wedding flowers with my parents on their farm where the wedding will be, which is also the place I grew up. We are very excited to have Juli and Juan as our caterers. The food will be amazing and we love them as people. I'm excited to have dear friends and family that I haven't seen in a long time (especially with the pandemic) come together.
John: Definitely all the friends and family we will get to commune with around our celebration! Juli y Juan were a must for us. Their food is great, and they are absolutely wonderful, vivacious people. Although there are many hurdles in planning, having it on Amber's family's farm is wonderful, because this is a place that is so special to her, her parents, and to us. The pride Dennis & Bailey have taken in hosting us is wonderful. They have been nothing but loving and gracious in the process.
