Q & A with the bride:
Tell us a little a bit about your wedding (your vision, color, style, and location choices).
We are Texas people and you know they say everything is bigger in Texas so we wanted to feel like a little bit of Texas in Colorado! When we found Crooked Willow Farms it made us think of all the great memories we had growing up in Texas and being in the country. It is beautiful! The barn is so manicured and the grounds are immaculate! When we pulled up for our site tour, I burst into tears. I just knew this was where our marriage had to begin! I wanted the day to feel like us! We are either all or nothing kinda people and wanted this to feel true to us and people to walk in and say "Of course this is Tara and Tyson's wedding!" For example, we wanted everyone dressed up and loved the idea of a seated dinner but doing a beef and chicken just didn't feel quite right so we did plated shrimp and grits and fried chicken and mashed potatoes, but underneath crystal chandeliers and a top sequin linens! We wanted to bring the glam so lush floral, sequin accents in blush and champagne was the only way to go!
What was the most important to the two of you while planning? Was there anything that you chose to splurge on or skip?
Splurged on the band... and the Venue... lol. I didn't know how "right" the right venue could feel until we stepped foot on property at CWF. I actually hadn't selected that venue initially as one to tour, but our planner thought we should take a peek and when we got there I just burst into tears. There was no question it was the right spot, and although an investment, it really set the tone for the whole event! We also always knew we needed a top notch band so that was an area we were ready to really spurge on so our guests could celebrate with us all evening long. They couldn't have been more fun!
What were your favorite parts of the day? (memories and stories)
It was the best day ever! It was perfect. My only complaint is that it just went too fast. I just wish we could relive it. I really do believe a lot of that had to do with the quality of our wedding planner, Sarah Faulkner. She is, simply, the best. Our friends and family still to this day, tell us it was the best wedding ever and they had the best time. We couldn't be more grateful.
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
If your budget allows... get a wedding planner. Enjoy the process and take it all in on the big day!!! Oh, and make a list if all the photos you want your photographer to get. It goes so fast and you're anxious to be with your guests, but you want to be sure you preserve those memories!
