From the Bride and Groom:
"Our love story started almost 8 years ago when I was home for Christmas break from my freshman year of college and Jacob was playing hockey in my hometown of Amarillo, Texas. For our first date, we went to sushi and then I taught Jacob how to two step because I loved going out dancing. On our second date, we went dancing at the bar where my parents met, Midnight Rodeo. My mom still has the piece of paper my dad used to write his phone number down that night, with a note saying, “I’ll make your dreams come true.” He kept true on his promise and I learned what I wanted from a marriage by watching their great love growing up.
Jacob and I had such a strong connection from the beginning and we knew we were in love very early on. We decided it was worth it to do long distance while I was in school nine hours away because we couldn’t imagine life without each other. It turned out my parents ended up moving to Colorado, where Jacob is from, so we got to spend summers and holidays together. It seemed like fate because mine and Jacob’s parents have the same wedding anniversary (November 19) and Jacob’s mom and I have the same initials - CAW.
We ended up doing long distance for the first two years of our relationship while I was in school and Jacob played hockey around the country. It wasn’t always easy, but we got to really know each other that way and focus on our individual goals as young adults, while still growing together. We also got to travel a lot together - Boston was our favorite trip! My senior year of college, Jacob and I ended up going to the same school (go CSU rams!) and our hearts were so happy finally being in the same state long term.
A few years later, Jacob took me on a surprise trip to Avalanche Ranch near Aspen and proposed when we were ice skating on a patch of ice on site. It felt like we went full circle, from going to his hockey games early on in our relationship to skating around in Colorado where we finally lived together. Our engagement was around two and a half years because of COVID, but the wait was so worth it because our big day was truly magical. Cheers to growing together and great love!"
