Notes from Molly, the bride:
Although we both graduated from the same college, we didn't know each other until I joined Steve's company in 2011. We met in Washington, DC at our first job and became a great team and fast friends. Aside from the time Steve replaced my gummy vitamins with candy gummy bears, he was always looking out for me and helping me navigate the working world and all things DC. Of course, dating a colleague was a faux pas, so we kept it (mostly) PG during those years. Then in 2015, Steve flew out last minute to Vail to spend NYE with my family and a couple of our friends. He then spent two days literally falling down the mountain, learning to ski for me. Maybe it was the altitude, but we also fell in love during those days.
We got engaged in November of 2017 in beautiful Big Sur, CA and later chose to get married in Vail, CO. Steve grew up in Boston, but I grew up in Denver, skied most winter weekends and had my first college internship at the Sonnenalp Hotel. And, of course, Vail is where our friendship turned into something more. We attempted to personalize our wedding to us through some of the details - the flowers were an inspiration from the protea bouquet Steve got me when we got engaged; my cousin designed our invitations mirroring the Gore Range that would be our wedding backdrop - as well as choosing to have a band and unforgettable food. We asked our close friend to officiate the wedding and wrote our own vows. Luckily, my maid of honor, mom and to-be mother in law, and my planner were amazing sounding boards and a steady support system as we planned!
We wanted to celebrate throughout the weekend and truly get to spend time with our family and friends who had traveled so far. The weekend kicked off with a welcome dinner at the Minturn Saloon, which helped introduce the West to our east coast family and friends. We toasted to Steve's grandma, who turned 91 during the weekend and relaxed at the Vail Marriott bar after. The morning of our wedding day, the groomsmen played basketball while the bridal party did some yoga prior to hair and makeup... we were so lucky our vendors and our amazing planner did all the heavy lifting so that we could relax! Before we knew it, we were having our first look in the hotel and headed over Larkspur to kick off the celebration. The rain held out for us and we enjoyed the best day of our life with all our loved ones!
