Q&A with the bride and groom:
How did you meet?
We met freshman year in college at Quinnipiac University. We both ran cross country and track and saw each other every day. (Mike) also started out in PT and we had a lot of classes together freshman year. We started friends and steadily grew throughout our college careers.
What is your proposal story?
We had planned a hiking trip with some close friends to celebrate one of their birthdays. It had initially started out as a camping trip, but the weather was looking iffy and (Jill) actually came down with a cold so we decided to keep it a day trip. We met our friends and drove to Buffalo Mountain in Breckenridge. If there were any clues I might be getting proposed to, I missed them all! We hiked to a beautiful waterfall, and sat with our friends having some cheese and crackers like we normally would. I offered to take a picture of the other couple, and then they returned the favor. Mike usually isn't one for pictures, but he suggested we make our way over to a rock in the middle of the stream. We took a couple goofy pictures, and then Mike turned to me and asked, "Are you tired of waiting?" (We had known each other for 10 years and been talking about getting married the summer leading to this moment - I had guessed he'd propose near Christmas time so he was early on my watch!) He then knelt down on proposed! I had pictured this moment in my head, and never thought I'd be a crier - but I balled my eyes out!! Our friends took pictures and captured the moment, and we all celebrated with a beer before hiking back and having dinner at Breckenridge Distillery.
What were your favorite parts of the day?
Our first look was a very special moment since we hadn't seen each other since the night before. We also loved our adventure into the mountains with Courtney! It was super windy, but the views were incredible!
Do you have any advice for couples planning their weddings now?
No matter how you want to get married just do it! We did and it was absolutely perfect.
