Couture Colorado

Notes from the Bride, Allison: Wedding Theme: We wanted to have a wedding where our guests would feel comfortable, while also enjoying a beautiful Colorado mountain location. Devil's Thumb Ranch was the most amazing venue and really highlighted the natural beauty of Colorado. One of the things we wanted for our wedding was for it to be personal to us and have our family and friends involved as much as possible. Matt's (groom) Grandfather married us and we also had several friends participate in the wedding by reading some our our favorite verses. Our families were very involved in making this day perfect and helping us with DIY projects. We worked together to complete the guest's favors, the wedding programs, and the centerpieces. The theme of our wedding was Colorado nature, with rustic additions, which would fit in the barn setting of the reception. The place cards and tables were all assigned a tree that is native to Colorado, with the scientific genus and species name and a silhouette picture of the tree (being a science teacher, I loved this little touch). We also brought in the nature theme with our guest favors. We gave guests honey in small jars, which we filled by hand, and beeswax candles. The names on the escort cards for the head table also included small bees by the name of the attendants. Lastly, we wanted our flowers to incorporate the fall nature theme. Our floral team from Plum Sage flowers did an unbelievable job. They completed some beautiful bouquets and arrangements which brought out our fall palate. They even foraged aspen branches on the way up to the resort for our centerpieces. We we able to reuse the greenery from the ceremony for our head table, as well as the bridesmaids bouquets. Over all, our family and friends helped make for a beautiful wedding, where all the guests felt comfortable and had a great time. It was a day filled with so much love.

Together, we have attend many concerts and festivals over the years. We even got engaged at Life is Beautiful Festival in Las Vegas. Because music is so important to both of us, we wanted to incorporate little personal touches throughout our wedding. Our guest book, which was made by close friends, was personalized records, which our guests all were able to sign. We also has a live band, which allowed our guests to relax to the sound of jazz music during cocktail hour at sunset, and dance the night away with a five piece band at the reception. Favorite Moment: Saying our own vows to one another. Matt and I wrote our own ceremony, which made it so personal. From the readings, to the knot tying ceremony (which Matt loved, being a rock climber), it made the ceremony absolutely perfect. Favorite Decor: The guests were asked to replace their escort card with a polaroid picture of themselves. It was so great to see the pictures of our guests up at the end of the night. We put polaroid cameras on all the tables to replace a photo booth. It was great to see the guests having fun taking pictures and being able to take a little memento home with them. Advice: Take time to appreciate the little moments. Everyone says that day goes by so fast, and that is truly an understatement. Taking time from the stress to appreciate the little things and all your loved ones around you, makes the day even more special. Also, use your family and friends. The personal touches are such a wonderful addition to any wedding.
