So, you've found the one, hes proposed and finally, youre engaged. But what now? You have a wedding to plan, but you simply dont know where to start.

Whilst planning a wedding can be stressful, finding inspiration for it, can seem even harder. Especially, if you dont know what you want.

Do you want a traditional wedding? Have you always dreamed of getting married on a beach far away? Perhaps you just dont know.

The most important thing is not to panic. Relax, take a deep breath and stay calm. We know how difficult finding inspiration can seem, and thats why we have put together a handy guide to below:

Take inspiration from your lifestyle

Many brides-to-be dont realize that they can and should, take inspiration from their own lifestyle. Consider how you have decorated your house look at the fabrics, patterns and colors. Think about your most prized possessions what do you love most? Think about what you love most about your home and your possessions, as this will give you an idea of your preferred style.

You could even take inspiration from your jewelry and engagement ring look at the style of jewelry you like and go from there. Do you own mostly modern jewelry designs or is everything you own, including your engagement ring antique? If you own mostly antique jewelry, chances are that you have classical taste and would prefer a more traditional wedding to a modern one.

Think about what you like and use it as inspiration for your big day.

Take inspiration from trends

Whilst it is important that you take inspiration for your wedding from your personal tastes, you can also take inspiration from design trends. Have a look at what is popular on the catwalks and use it to get some ideas.

Have a good browse of wedding magazines, attend wedding shows and spend time reading blogs online. Look at the different wedding styles on offer, the dresses, the decor, and of course, the food.

Obviously, just because certain trends are popular on the catwalks, it doesn't mean you should incorporate them into your wedding. However, looking at popular trends can be an excellent way to come up with some unique ideas. Simply by looking at designs, wedding fashion ideas and dcor, you may find inspiration for colors, patterns and photography styles.

Take inspiration from the internet

One of the best sources of inspiration is of course, the internet. For inspiration ideas, you can visit online wedding sites, social media sites and blogs. And of course, right here on COUTUREcolorado we have 100's of real Colorado weddings to browse through.

Of all the online sources, Pinterest is one of the most popular sites for finding wedding inspiration. Brides-to-be can use the site to search for wedding related pictures and ideas and can then re-pin them onto their own account. Allowing them to gather their favorite wedding photos together in one place.

Other social networking sites like Youtube and Keek can also be used as resources for wedding inspiration. These sites can be especially beneficial for finding the perfect wedding music.

Whilst using the internet as a resource for wedding inspiration, try not to get caught up the most popular wedding trends, instead take ideas from them. Focus on the weddings that you find most inspirational and look at what has made them so beautiful and inspiring. Use Pinterest to find images that match your personal style and use them to help you choose specific elements for your own wedding flowers, table settings, dcor, etc.

Take inspiration from the seasons

One of the most obvious things to consider when planning your wedding is the seasons. Before booking your wedding, think about what colours and dcor you want to include.

The season you get married in will affect what colours, patterns and styles you can use. For instance, autumn weddings tend to consist of harvest colours like reds, yellows and oranges. Whereas winter weddings consist of sparkly whites, reds, blacks and navy blues. So, it is important to take the seasons into account before planning your wedding.

Spend some time out and about having a look at the different flowers and find out what is available when. Visit a local florist to discuss what types of flowers are available throughout the year. If there is something particular that you want, make sure to enquire about it.

Take inspiration from your family and friends

If you are struggling for ideas, why not take some inspiration from your family and friends. Ask them for their thoughts and ideas any ideas you like the sounds of, jot down in your planning book. Whilst you dont want people getting overly involved, you may be surprised by the ideas other people have for you.

Speak to your friends and ask what they think makes a wedding nice. Ask them what they would like at their own wedding and take inspiration from it chances are that they will mention things you hadn't even thought about.

Talk to your parents and other relatives about their own weddings. Sit down and get the wedding albums out and have a good look through them. Whilst a lot of what is in them may seem old-fashioned, you may find some inspiration from it. Perhaps every woman in your family gets married at a certain time of year, or there is a family tradition of each bride carrying a blue bouquet. Talk to your relatives and take inspiration from their experiences.

Take inspiration from your venue

If you know where you want to get married or what type of venue you want, take inspiration from it. For example, if you are planning on getting married in an 18th-century church, it wouldn't make sense to plan a modern do. So, before planning your wedding, ensure you think about the style of your venue. Check out our Venue Guide.
