THE KOLLECTIVE: Get Your Event. Together. I am pleased to introduce you to an a new online planning studio. The Kollective is a free service that connects great people with the best local resources for their special occasion needs. Follow them on Facebook. Q & A with founder Kate Lacroix Who are the Kollective? We have 20 years experience in the Colorado hospitality scene. The Kollective is a selection of professionals who represent a strong depth and breadth of quality, service and creativity. How does it work? You window shop and select professionals of interest. They offer you something nice to "woo you" and you try them out to see if they would be a good fit for your event. Does it cost me anything? No, this is a free service to help you find a professional that will suit your event needs. All you have to do is to sign-up for a free account in order to contact any vendor. When and why did you start your business? I started my business this past fall but i just launched the site two weeks ago. The idea came to me when I was planning my own wedding with my husband last June. I wanted to fill the space between the DIY movement and traditional event planners. Since I am a long-time Coloradan, people always come to me to ask me what the "best" in class is anyway, so this was a natural progression for me. To be able to offer the best vendors in one place and to pass along freebies and money saving options is such a good feeling. Everyone tells me they love it so I think I am on the right track. What or who inspires you? I am inspired by trends in the big European cities and by what i see on both coasts. I am an avid magazine reader and absorber of culture and all things beautiful so my inspiration really comes from every corner of the world. Favorite Wedding Trend? I love the trend of the couple really engaging their guests in the ceremony and reception. We had our guests "vow" to stick by us through thick and thin and then we gave them "toast cards" with their wedding invites so they could be prepared to stand up and say anything they wanted...and they certainly did! Advice for a couple planning a Colorado Wedding? Create a networked spreadsheet for you and your partner with many tabs to keep track of everything, consider our wacky weather if you plan to have an outdoor event...oh and log on to kollectiveevent.com Where did you grow up? Toronto, Virginia, New York and Colorado. Favorite Colorado pastime? Dining out with my family in both Denver and Boulder. We have the best restaurants in this state!
