a CITY CHIC wedding in an art gallery

Notes from the Bride: Chuck and I met around 1:30 in the morning at work. We both work in a hospital, he's a doctor and I'm a nurse (yep) and so we work these crazy, random hours. We were both up and ended up having a long conversation about cross country skiing and Flight of the Concords (our favorite show EVER). It took some time for Chuck to finally and officially ask me out, but he did over a very thought out text (so I found out later). He 'dared' me to play tennis (we are both competitive) and then on the tennis court finally asked me out on a real date, although I still think I manipulated into asking me out. Either way, we both won (although, I did beat him at tennis that night). We knew that we were going to have a more intimate wedding, neither one of us are from Colorado, so once we decided on a venue, it was a matter of saying "NO" to tons of ideas I liked. We were getting married in an art museum, so I wanted it to be modern. I also wanted to stick with grays and ivory and black, just so we wouldn't compete with the art that was in the gallery. I also love rustic weddings, so I tried to have some rustic touches throughout the night, like the feather boutonnieres (which I LOVED) and the stick center pieces. I wanted it to be easy and casual and modern. My wedding planners, PeeKay Soirees, were amazing at finding ways of making what i had in my head, a reality. I'm not a huge flower person, but my florist Ladybird Poppy Floral {LISTmember} is incredibly talented, so I just asked her to keep the flowers pretty simple, mostly white, with anemones and feathers. I was, and still am, on a bit of a natural feather kick. For the centerpieces I wanted modern sticks with rustic feathers to balance each other out. Our biggest priorities were spending as much time as possible with people that were in from out of town, really good food, and throw a fun, stress free party for all our friends. It was the best day of my life and I definitely think we met all our goals!
