I can say first hand that every single interaction with LISTmember Rachel Gomez has been incredible. Not only is she uber talented, but a pleasure to work with! Kind and intuitive, she knows how to capture her clients in the moment and make that moment last forever in film. Her black and whites are to die for and she is always working hard to give her clients the type of photographs they will cherish - and someday be handed down to their grand-kids! Here is more about the talented and lovely Rachel Gomez of Rachel Gomez Photography! How did you get started in photography? When I was 9, I took a film class at the JCC, and I was in love. Ten years later I attended Brooks Institute of Photography and received a BA in Portrait Photography. In 2010, I left my position as Gallery Director to start working full time, doing what I love. Where are you originally from? Denver!! How long have you been living in Colorado? Most of my life, excluding five years spent in California. Weve been back in Colorado since 2008, and we plan to stay. What is your favorite part of living in CO? I feel like I can grow to be the best version of myself here. We are so lucky to live in such a naturally beautiful place, to share it with so many kind, relaxed and generous people, and to have such a wonderful creative community.

Which photo shoots do you enjoy the most? For a long time I was most inspired by fine art photography, but as I grew older I fell in love with photographing real life and real people. My best images come from collaborating with couples to create something together we can both be proud of. Favorite part of being a photographer? This is the language I communicate best with. Ive always seen the world through a lens, even if I didnt know it. This is how I share, love, grieve and rejoice. It is what I have to share with the world, and I am so grateful to be doing so. How would you describe your photography style? Ive always said my work is photojournalistic in nature, fine art in style. Who is your biggest role model in photography? Lillian Bassman, Edward Weston and Rodney Smith are perennial favorites. Tough question, I have so many picks. I have several boards on Pinterest just to keep to track.

What inspires you? Life. Everything has beauty, though it may take longer to see it sometimes. Ive always preferred to create portraits, so I suppose people inspire me most. What are your favorites areas in CO to shoot? My father is a landscape painter and for two years I ran a gallery with a huge landscape focus, so I always felt I had a great advantage in seeing this state from that perspective. But, at the end of the day, I love shooting anywhere with great light. What type of shoot do you dream of doing one day? Ive always wanted to do a shoot at the Sand Dunes with a great couple who are interested in a Film Noir look. I cant say more without meeting the right people for the shoot : )
