My favorite part of this wedding was that they divided it into two days. First day was the ceremony. Second day was a big party. Dang, why didn't I think of that for my wedding?!
Notes from the Bride, Tory:
Michael and I met in 2011 in our Introduction to Economics class at the University of Denver. It wasn't until a few weeks into the quarter that we actually talked to each other. However, I did notice him before then. All of the girls did. I vividly remember how the girls in my class would talk about how cute he was. Turns out he noticed me too. On Valentine's Day, of all days, we were put in the same in-class group together. After class he asked me to grab dinner with him. And so we went to Jerusalem's near campus. (We took some wedding photos there!) After our first date, it was clear to me that it would turn into a relationship. I am not exactly sure what Michael thought at that point. Anyways, we started hanging out several times a week. I told him I loved him, then he told me, and now we are married!
Michael proposed to me exactly how I wanted him to - in the comfort of our own home. I got home after a long night of second shooting a wedding with From the Hip Photo and sat next to him in the living room. He excused himself for a few seconds to go grab the ring, and then he just asked me. He was really nervous and I was nervous for him. After he proposed he explained that my ring was made in the 40s, when thoughts of space and star exploration were on the rise. That is why the settings look like stars. Then we went to bed, because I was really tired. The next morning we set out on our road trip down the western coast.
The bouquet was a DIY and a lengthy one at that. It took 20 hours or more - I lost track. I used pins from my great grandma, grandmas, and mom. Almost everything at the wedding was a DIY project. My dad made the huppah and was in charge of lighting up the space. My mom, day-of planner and I made the centerpieces, which were a glittery mess. I created the invites, save the dates and thank yous. I would say I really enjoyed the breakfast in bed on the morning of the second day. Also, I am extremely happy that we split the wedding into two days. The first day was the ceremony with 20 guests and the second day was a huge party/reception with 150 guests. If it had all taken place in one day I don't think I would remember much. After shooting several weddings, I know how much of a whirl wind it can be.
