Notes from the photographer Ashley Durham Studios :
Patrick and Lindsey are both active duty Army, and in lieu of a bigger wedding opted to have a very private, intimate elopement ceremony at the Garden of the Gods in Colorado Springs. The wedding was complete with a little picnic with homemade foods, as well as a couple donuts from local favorite, Amy's Donuts. The bride's hair was styled in a very rustic braid, infused with baby's breath.
Notes from the Bride, Lindsey:
We both met in Army boot camp. We were in the same platoon, and also attended AIT (career training) together. He is a heavy wheeled mechanic, and I ended up becoming a combat medic later in my career.
We were just friends for the longest time, and we had always kept in touch with each other throughout the years. He got news that he was getting deployed to Africa for 6 months, and we just new we wanted to be more than friends. So he left and I waited for him. When he returned to the states in November 2013, he came and helped me pack my things and moved me up to Fort Carson, Colorado. He met my family during Thanksgiving, and we went up to Minnesota for the holidays so I could meet his.
On Christmas Eve, he proposed to me in front of his immediate family, and it was such a great moment. I was very surprised and also very emotional :).
When we aren't working, we love traveling together and exploring new places! We both love the outdoors, so we are always hiking, running, and camping. We also love just watching Netflix on the couch together with our awesome dog, Jack lol.
Our plan after marriage is finishing our education, owning a home together, and traveling the world! And eventually start a family :)
We both new right away an elopement was something that fit us perfectly. With his family in Minnesota, and mine spread out from Kentucky to Florida, we didn't have the heart to ask people to travel so far. We also wanted it to be about us and the promises to one other, and not get swept up in the planing and stress that comes with a big wedding. And since we are saving for a house, financially it just made sense. It ended up being the best decision we made! We loved everything about our wedding day, but the thing we love the most is the adventure of marriage itself :)
