From the bride, Jennifer:
I always knew I wanted to get married back home in Durango, but I didnt realize how stressful it would be. My husband worked grave hour shifts so it was a lot of planning on my side, as well as collaborating with my parents who luckily still lived in Durango. The biggest thing that I think helped us is we had about a year and a half to plan. In that time, we made sure to get the big things booked first. They went quickly, so we made sure to make the venue and the photographer our top priority, then we went down the list from there.I was a Pinterest fanatic, so the majority of my decorations were handmade, mainly by my father. He built the centerpiece boxes, and then burnt our initials into the wood with hot metal he designed. He also created the alter pieces and dug out a bowl shape in the top for the flowers to sit. Our guestbook was something that I wanted to make sure was unique, so I went on Etsy and started searching, until I found the board we could have personalized. We did have a lot of kids at our wedding, so I knew they would be antsy for food and cake, so I was able to find a coloring book template that they could work on so the parents didnt have to worry about entertainment. In the end, the kids gave them to us, having specializing them for our big day.Overall, it was the best day and everything went smoothly. Just make sure you give yourself enough time with planning and booking, if you are wanting any kind of destination wedding.
