Travel from a different airport An easy way of saving money on your honeymoon is checking to see whether your closest airport has the best deal. Believe it or not, the prices for flights will vary from airport to airport. So when booking online, take a look at how much other airports are charging for a flight to the same destination. You may be surprised by the difference in prices. Smaller airports or ones that are more remote will often have cheaper than larger and more centralized ones. You should also see if the airport at your honeymoon destination is also the cheapest option. As this too could be bumping up the price of your airfares. If you choose to travel to an airport that is further away, always check that the transportation to get there doesnt cancel out your savings. You can do this by contacting the hotel or airport or using Google Maps to help you. Or ask a family member or friend to drive you there and pick you up. Also, consider the times you are choosing to travel wisely. There are peak times for people to travel, and this often causes the price to flights to increase. Plus it can also take longer for you to reach the airport due to traffic and delays. So see which times are the cheapest time to travel to your honeymoon destination. Even if its late at night or in the early hours of the morning, it can make a huge difference to the price. Cash in your credit card rewards Its no secret that weddings are expensive. From catering to venue hire, theres plenty of costs to consider. If youre still in the planning stages of your wedding, start looking into credit cards that have a loyalty or points scheme. You can use this card to pay for everything wedding related from your photographer to your decorations. This will then accumulate points that you can cash in to gain a whole host of benefits. These could be discounted hotel rooms, seat upgrades on your flight or airline tickets. You may even be able to get your partners ticket completely free. All of which would make your honeymoon very comfortable and save you some money. Take a look at the British Airways Chase credit card or other airline credit cards that you could start using. Each card will have differing requirements, fees and limits for you to gain their reward points. So always read the small print and check which rewards are applicable. Give yourself plenty of time to use the card and gain the points you need. Dont get a room with a view Hotel accommodation for your honeymoon is an essential part of making the trip feel romantic. While a room with a beautiful view of the local scenery can add to the experience, it can also cost you a lot more. These highly sought after rooms will often have much higher price tags that rooms without a view. So instead of just opting for the best view the hotel has to offer, look at the available rooms that have a less attractive viewpoint. Smaller rooms will also often have much lower rates you could utilize. This can give you significant savings which could be put to better use elsewhere. Plus it will encourage you both to spend more time outside discovering the true culture and people of the country you are visiting. Instead of spending every second in your room. If youre out spending time on the beach or exploring the local towns, you wont be concerned about the view from your room.   Call potential hotels directly While online accommodation deals are fantastic for honeymooners, sometimes a quick phone call can bag you a real bargain. Once you have chosen your destination, start researching potential hotels you could stay in. Consider choosing hotels that are close to the attractions and locations you want to visit during your trip to save money on travel expenses. Or choose hotels that offer free shuttle rides, dining and spa passes to guests. This too will save you money. Once you have a list of possible options, take the time to call each one directly. Many hotel reception staff will speak excellent English so it shouldnt be difficult to communicate. Ask them about the best rooms they have, discounts and package deals. They may be able to inform you of offers that are not online yet, which could get you a better room for a lot less. Always remember to tell them that this is for your honeymoon. It may not necessarily get you an incredible deal, but they may be able to throw in some complimentary extras. Always get the name of the person you spoke to before hanging up. Compare the prices and offers from each hotel you have called. But dont wait too long to decide or the deals you were offered may no longer be available. As you can see, there are plenty of ways to save money on your honeymoon. So theres no need to fret about how much you have in the bank. Just take what you have learned, plan ahead and shop around for mega savings and deals. Youll have more money to make your honeymoon the romantic vacation it should be.
